Cherie’s 25-year commitment to the fitness industry has been somewhat of a revolving door! While studying her Business Management and Marketing degree in 1994, she worked her way up to manage her first independent club and PT studio and served on the board of Fitness Victoria. A brief foray into finance and property was followed by a move back into fitness management, some postgraduate study in accounting, a role as an industry trainer for new fitness business owners and a national PT coordinator role in the 24-hour fitness franchise market. Cherie has managed some amazing PT teams and believes the key to PT retention is recruit – train – build – elevate. With our industry increasingly contractor-based, she says, ‘just because your PTs pay rent doesn’t mean you need to treat them like tenants!’ Her philosophy for successful team leadership? "Work on your ‘why’ together and the success will come!"
