Health & Fitness Industry Awards - we say well done!
by Ryan Hogan | Tuesday, October 26, 2010
Some people consider the granting of awards to be a slightly pretentious or unnecessary ritual. Those same people say it is impossible to recognise only a small group of players in an industry of successful businesses and people.
However, at Network we beg to differ. For many years before Fitness Australia began hosting the current version of the industry awards, we were heavily involved in organising and delivering them. Every year we sifted through an incredible amount of highly qualified and deserving applicants who, mostly, were nominated by others. It was an exhausting process but also incredibly rewarding for both the awardees and for us.
For the recipient, an award recognises the hard work that they have put into their business over the years, be it small, medium or large. As I’m sure you’ll agree, recognition is one of the main drivers of human behaviour. Imagine the feeling of elation and pride that recipients enjoy from having all those hours of effort formally acknowledged. They can then take these feelings into their business and re-invigorate it and the community they service.
For the selection committee, it provides the chance to see some truly amazing examples of fitness professionals and businesses in practice. By analysing their business models and positive contributions to the industry, immense pride and satisfaction is gained from knowing that our industry is healthy and full of people and organisations that are committed to doing the right thing.
Every year we applaud Fitness Australia for their work on the awards, and we continue to enjoy delivering our own selection of Network-specific awards at FILEX every year.
So, to this year’s recipients, Mireille Ryan, Vision Personal Training Caringbah, North Adelaide Fitness Centre and Health Mates Fitness Centre, we offer a big CONGRATULATIONS and wish you all the best in this, your year.
Have you received an award before and did it make you feel better, work harder or simply instil a sense of pride? Please comment below.

I was very proud to have won the NSW and the Australian Fitness Professional of the Year in 2009, all the hard has been worth it.
This is a career I choose and never have regretted it for one moment; the industry has plenty to offer in all aspects of Fitness.
I would also like to thank Fitness Australia for their ongoing support to all who work within the Industry.
