Q. Can I register to attend a Pre-Convention Event only?

Absolutely! You just need to register via FAX or POST using the registration form. Complete all sections except Step 4 – session selections. For more information on Pre-Convention Events please click here.

Q. Is there a 1 or 2-day convention pass available?

No, FILEX is only available as a 3-day registration pass. You can attend as many or as few sessions as you like between 15 and 17 April. You can also purchase additional extras such as a Business or PT Business Summit, the Business or PT Breakfast or a Pre-Convention event. Click here for full program information.

Q. What is the Les Mills Instructor rate?

The Les Mills Instructor Rate is available for Les Mills Instructors who want to attend FILEX 2011 and Les Mills Asia Pacific Ultimate Super Workshop. All you need to do is complete your Les Mills Ultimate Workshop registration form and fax to 02 6282 0563 or post to PO Box 3998 Manuka ACT. Then, register for FILEX by completing the standard FILEX registration, but make sure you select the 'Les Mills Instructor Rate' at the time of registering to ensure your discount.

Q. Is there a closing date for registrations?

Technically, no; however, registrations received after Wednesday 6 April 2011 will incur a $50 administration fee, and being so close to the event, delegate information will not be sent out, but can be picked up at on-site registration. Your tax invoice will be sent out after the event. Please note: some sessions may be booked out before the convention commences.

Q. Why do I need to select one session choice per timeslot when registering online?

The online registration form has a maximum number of seats available for each session. What this means is that once the session is full it will not be available to select. If you cannot select a session during your registration process (as indicated by grey shading), then you will need to select another session in that time slot. When registering via fax or post we ask you to fill out all three preferences so that if your first preference is full, we can reserve a space for you in an alternative session of your choice.

Q. A session I want to attend was fully booked when I registered. Can I attend it on the day?

As mentioned, sessions do fill up quickly so it is best to register as early as possible to secure your space in your preferred sessions. However, if you do wish to attend a certain session that was booked out at the time of your registration, on the actual day of the session you can go to the room where the session is being held and if, after 10 minutes into it, there is space available, the event crew may let you attend. This system operates on a 'first come, first served' basis though, so keep in mind if you are not permitted entry because the session is fully attended on the actual day, then there is a chance the space in the session you are actually booked in to attend, may have been forfeited to someone else. This is also the process to follow if you wish to change any of the sessions you are booked into. Please note: all session locations are detailed in your Convention Handbook, which you'll receive onsite. Check the noticeboard by the Convention Information Desk for any room or presenter changes on the actual day.

Q. If I book into the Business or PT BUSINESS Summit does that mean I can only attend business or PT sessions during the 3-day convention?

Not at all. You can select any sessions from any strand that you want to attend, providing there is space available in these sessions.

Q. Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

Yes, you may transfer your registration to someone else prior to the event; however a $29 administration fee will be incurred. Full details, in writing, of the transferee are required by Network to arrange transfers. FILEX name badges cannot be shared as delegates will receive one identifying wristband when registering and this must be worn in addition to your name badge to gain access to the 3-day convention. Please note: Your registration for FILEX 2011 cannot be rolled over and used at future FILEX events.

Q. Can I present at FILEX 2011?

The program for FILEX 2011 has been filled with amazing presenters. If you are interested in presenting at FILEX 2012, applications will be opened in May 2011. For more information, check the Events pages of this web site, or phone Network on 02 8412 7400 in or prior to May, and ask to speak with the Events Department.

Q. Can my company exhibit at FILEX 2011?

The FILEX Convention, itself, does not have exhibitions, but is held in conjunction with the annual Australian Fitness & Health Expo, which is where you can exhibit your products or services. For exhibitor information click here.

Q. What is the difference between FILEX and the Australian Fitness & Health Expo?

FILEX 2011 is a 3-day convention that consists of 250+ educational sessions delivered by 160 expert presenters from around the world. FILEX is where fitness professionals and owners/managers convene to learn new training techniques, research findings, skills and strategies to help them further their career in the fitness industry. It is also an opportunity for delegates to obtain 15 Continuing Education Credits for attending. In contrast, the Australian Fitness & Health Expo is open for attendance by both industry members and fitness enthusiasts from the public. It gives anyone with an interest in health and fitness the opportunity to see, try and buy the latest health and fitness-related products and services.

Q. I have bought a PT or Business Gold Pass. Do I have to advise if I will be attending the Summit or Breakfast events?

Definitely! If you have bought a Gold Pass you MUST advise us if you will be attending the Summit and Breakfast events. Pre-bookings are essential, as limited spaces are available and in some instances catering is included. Please refer to your confirmation email to check if you have registered for the Summit and Breakfast events, or call the FILEX registration office on 02 9211 9337.

Q. I am attending a Breakfast event but have special dietary requirements. Who should I advise?

If you have any special dietary requirements please contact Network's Events Department (phone 02 8424 7200 or e-mail filex@fitnessnetwork.com.au) by Friday 17 March 2011.

Q. When can I register onsite and is this compulsory?

You can register onsite on Thursday 14 April between 3:30pm and 6pm or on Friday 15 April, from 7am onwards. Onsite registration is compulsory as you will collect your delegate welcome pack, which contains your name badge, wrist band and other items that you will need to access your sessions for the 3 days. Onsite registration is undertaken at the Convention Information Desk (Parkside Foyer, Level 1, Sydney Convention Centre). So, even though you are officially registered to attend FILEX 2011, registration onsite is essential. If you opt to register on Friday morning, due to the large number of delegates who will be doing the same, please ensure that you allow enough time to check-in prior to the start of your first session.

Q. What is the cancellation policy for FILEX 2011?

The following policies will be strictly adhered to:

  1. Australian Fitness Network must be notified in writing for all cancellations or transfers.
  2. If notified up to, and including, Friday 1 April 2011, a full refund less $100 administration fee will be granted.
  3. For Pre-Convention events, a full refund less 25% of the registration fee will apply, if notified in writing up to and including Friday 1 April 2011.
  4. You may transfer your registration to another person for a fee of $29.
  5. If notified after Friday 1 April 2011, no refunds or credits are available.
  6. If you do not attend FILEX 2011 and have not notified Australian Fitness Network in writing, prior to the convention, no refund or credit is available.

Q. What do I do if I have registered but have not received my tax invoice or confirmation email?

If you have not received your confirmation email one week after submitting your registration please call the FILEX Registration Office on 02 9211 9337 to confirm your registration has been received and processed. Also please check your email's security settings to ensure you can receive emails from filex@infosalons.com.au

Q. How many Continuing Education Credits (CECs) do I get for attending FILEX?

All delegates are eligible to receive 15 CECs for attendance at FILEX 2011. The CEC Certificate issued onsite (as part of your registration package) must be retained as evidence of attendance and submitted to Fitness Australia upon re-registration with them. Pre-convention workshops also provide CECs; the amount will vary between each workshop. For more information on Pre-Convention Events please click here. Important: Please do not lose your FILEX 2011 CEC Certificate as there is a charge of $5 per certificate if you need Network to reprint it.
