// Dynamic boxing - Curved punch and evasion combo

This combination introduces curved punches into your routines.
QUE + DOUBLE LEFT JABBING + LEFT HOOK + RIGHT CROSS + LEAN BACK + THE RIGHT CROSS & THE LEFT HOOK
1. THE QUE
This is the standby position for both puncher and padholder. The puncher cannot punch on until given the que to do so from the padholder.
2 & 3. DOUBLE LEFT JABBING
Double jabbing is vital to develop the strength and stamina in the weaker arm of an orthodox boxer. Double jabbing is also the bread and butter punch of all good ring fighters.
4. THE LEFT HOOK
Note the picture shows the puncher stepping in for the left hook.
5. THE RIGHT CROSS
Warning – a right cross that comes off the back of a left hook can be a mighty punch. Padholders are advised to hold the pad in towards the puncher to reduce the impact.
6. THE LEAN BACK
An evasive move performed by anchoring the lead foot and then stepping as far back as possible with the rear foot. The puncher’s shoulders are held square on to the padholder and the chin is tucked down onto the chest whilst the core rigidity is maintained.
7 & 8. THE RIGHT CROSS & THE LEFT HOOK
This requires fast padwork as the right cross left hook combo chimes in well with the body’s natural movement.
Padholder tips: This sequence is photographed for orthodox boxers, the combos will need to be mirrored for a southpaw. Wear pads that fit your hands; if they are too loose then wear quick wraps or handwraps underneath. Keep your elbows in, stand tall with chin down, never thump down on the punches with the pads – this is grossly negligent.
