Spectacular rainforest run to debut this November
The Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk is being opened up for the first time for running events, with Run Queensland securing permits to hold the Blackall 100 on the weekend of 8 and 9 November, 2014.
The Blackall 100 is expected to draw up to 1,000 participants of all levels to take part in 50km and 100km runs along The Hinterland Great Walk and its surrounds.
The spectacular rainforest scenery will make for one of Australia’s most anticipated running events, with the trails ideally suited for both experienced runners and fun-runners.
‘Securing permits to host the event in the pristine Sunshine Coast hinterland is a real coup for Run Queensland, and with the villages of Mapleton, Montville and Maleny offering such attractive tourism opportunities, we expect families from all over Australia to come and be part of this inaugural event’ said Alun Davies, Run Queensland’s Co-Director, Events and Marketing.
Co-director of Events and Marketing, Brett Standring, added, ‘While the 100km and 50km races will be challenging, we will ensure that running conditions will be safe and controlled, so that it will suit experienced runners, as well as those who just want a unique opportunity to run along some of the most picturesque trails in Australia.’
