About the Author:
Jonathon Ray, graduating in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Sport & Exercise Science Jonathon has spent the past 6 years working in competitive gymnastics, personal training, powerlifting and now education. During his time in Gymnastics he ran a Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Levels squad of around 40 gymnasts and worked regularly with the Royal Deaf & Blind Institute as well as the Minimbah Care Unit to deliver gymnastics programs to special needs populations. He worked amongst a team of coaches looking after two special olympics athletes competing internationally in which both finished on the podium (Gold & Bronze). After this he transitioned into personal training full time before moving into the strength training realm where he managed a boutique powerlifting gym – working full time on the floor and at competitions whilst liaising with clients, writing programs, blog posts and maintaining social media in the background. Now working in education for the Australian Institute of Fitness, when not in the classroom you can usually find him spending far too much time underneath a barbell or hunting down the closest tub of ice cream.
