Personal training in Southbank
Personal Training in Southbank, Melbourne
If you’re looking for a personal trainer in Southbank, we offer personal training built around your body, your schedule and your fitness goals.
Our coaching covers strength, conditioning and nutrition habits, so every client trains with a clear plan. We work with people across Southbank, along St Kilda Road and into the Melbourne CBD, in our gyms and private studios, by the Yarra before work, or at home in your apartment while we bring the equipment.
We’ve trained more than 1,950 clients over 29 years. Most arrived with the same problem: they knew what to do, but couldn’t make themselves do it alone. A trainer who expects you at 7am fixes that.
Book a session or enquire about the 6-Week Lean Body Reset and we’ll match you with the right trainer.

Every personal training session in Southbank, VIC runs for 45 minutes, wherever suits you: your apartment, your building’s gym, a park by the river, or one of our gyms. If we come to you, we bring the equipment. Here’s how each session runs.

Your first session
We start with a short check of how you move, any past injuries and what you want from your training. That way we know where to start and how hard to push. Your first session is free, so you can see how it works before you pay a cent.
Ongoing sessions and the weekly rhythm
After that, each workout builds on the last. Your trainer writes the program before you arrive, coaches every set and adds weight as you get stronger. When progress stalls, we change the exercises so you keep improving.
What does the $100 session include?
A session is $100 for 45 minutes with a professional trainer who plans and coaches the whole workout. You never stand around wondering what to do next.
Our 6-week program
The 6-Week Lean Body Reset
The 6-Week Lean Body Reset is a $1,399 program built on simple habits.
It includes two training sessions a week with your trainer, the coaching app, nutrition tracking and a set of guides. Your result comes down to how consistently you follow it.
What results can you realistically expect?
Hit 80% of the checklist and you’ll be happy with your result. Fat loss comes from doing the basics week after week, and most people find their energy and training improve too. Tell us your goal early so we can coach you towards it.
What gets in the way?
Work deadlines, travel and poor sleep are what usually knock people off track. Lock three to four workouts into your calendar before the week starts and they’re much harder to skip.
The weekly checklist
Every client follows the same plan each week:
- Walk 10,000 steps a day.
- Log your food in the app, hit your protein target and stay under your calories.
- Weigh in on Sunday morning and fill in your check-in form.
- Read all the guides in your first week.
- Train at least 4 times a week: your 2 sessions with your trainer plus 2 on your own.

How we train
Strength, Conditioning and Hybrid Training Methods
We build most programs from strength training, resistance training, high-intensity interval training and conditioning blocks, then adjust the mix to your goal.
This mix of lifting and conditioning is what hybrid training gyms in Melbourne are known for, and it works just as well for general fitness as it does for sport. Fat loss gets more conditioning. Strength and muscle get more lifting. Everyone gets better at both.
Building strength
We use free weights, machines and bodyweight exercises, and keep the program simple enough to repeat each week. You’ll squat, hinge, push and pull, adding weight as you get stronger.
Conditioning and cardio
Conditioning comes after the lifting, so you’re fresh for the heavy work. Walking, cycling or other steady cardio fills in the rest of your week. Want a performance edge? See our strength and conditioning coaching.
Strength training
Heavy, low-rep lifts for stronger legs, back and posture.
Resistance training
Moderate weights that build muscle and protect your joints.
HIIT
Short, hard intervals. Big fitness gains in little time.
Conditioning
The stamina to take the stairs at Flinders Street two at a time.
Sport & injuries
Training for Athletes, Injury Recovery and Sport
From weekend netball to your first triathlon, we plan your training around your sport and your body.
Sport and performance goals
Tell us your sport, your season and your goal, and we build strength, speed and conditioning around them. Our programs follow the same exercise science principles used at the Australian Institute of Sport and the Victorian Institute of Sport.
Training around an injury
If you’re managing an injury, bring your health history and any advice from your GP or physio. We train around the problem, strengthen what supports it and never push through pain. If your physio or an accredited exercise physiologist (Exercise & Sports Science Australia) has given you a plan, we follow it. We also train clients referred through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
Before you book
What to Check Before You Hire in Melbourne
Two things are worth checking before you book a trainer in Melbourne.
Registration and permits
Whichever trainer you choose, ask which industry association they’re registered with and whether they hold a council permit for outdoor sessions.
The Victorian Government’s Better Health Channel states that a personal trainer doesn’t have to be registered with a health and fitness industry association. AUSactive and Physical Activity Australia are the registration options, so it’s reasonable to ask any trainer which one they hold.
The City of Melbourne also states that anyone running paid personal training or small-group fitness sessions on public land within the City of Melbourne needs a council permit. If a trainer suggests outdoor spots such as Kings Domain, a park or the river, ask whether that permit is in place.
Questions worth asking
- Which association are you registered with?
- Do you hold a council permit for outdoor sessions?
- How many sessions are included each week?
- How will you track my progress?

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I pay for a personal trainer in Southbank?
It depends on session length and what’s included. Compare like with like: coaching time, programming, nutrition support and check-ins. Our reference points are $100 for a 45-minute session and $1,399 for the 6-Week Lean Body Reset with two sessions a week.
Is $300 a month a lot for a personal trainer in Southbank?
It depends on how many sessions you get each week, whether nutrition support is included and what you want to achieve. Compare what each option includes rather than the monthly figure alone. With us, $300 a month buys three 45-minute sessions. That works well for technique and maintenance; for faster fat loss, train twice a week.
Is $400 a month a lot for a personal trainer in Southbank?
Check the session count, whether a coaching app and nutrition support are included, and whether the training suits your schedule. $400 a month covers four sessions with us, one a week. A plan you can stick with consistently is worth more than one that looks good on paper.
How do I find a personal trainer in Southbank?
We offer 1-on-1 and small-group coaching in Southbank. Sessions are $100 per 45 minutes, and the 6-Week Lean Body Reset is $1,399. Get in touch and we’ll talk through your goals, your schedule and which option suits you best.
What happens in a free personal training session in Southbank?
We talk through your goals, test how you move and take you through a real 45-minute workout. You leave with a plan and a price, with no obligation to sign up.
Do I need a gym membership to train with a personal trainer in Southbank?
No. Train at home, in your building’s gym, outdoors, or at one of our gyms.
Can I book a female personal trainer in Southbank?
Yes. Mention it when you enquire and we’ll match you with a female trainer such as Britt or Michaela.
Do personal trainers in Southbank need to be registered?
Not by law. Victoria’s Better Health Channel says registration with a fitness industry association is voluntary. AUSactive and Physical Activity Australia are the main registers, so ask any trainer which one they belong to.
Can personal trainers run sessions in parks around Southbank?
Only with a permit. The City of Melbourne requires a council permit for paid personal training or small-group fitness on public land, including spots like Kings Domain and the riverbank.
