How sessions work
How Your Training Program Is Built
Every personal training session in Kew runs for 45 minutes. Before the first one, we sit down and plan where you’re heading.
- 1
Consult
Your goal, health history and any injuries or niggles.
- 2
Assess
We check how you squat, hinge, push, pull and balance.
- 3
Plan
Exercises, loads and how many sessions a week suit you.
- 4
Progress
We raise the challenge as your body adapts.
Your first session
We ask what you want to achieve, what you’ve tried before and how your health is now. Then we test how you move, set your starting loads and take you through a short workout. Your first session is free, so you can see how we work before you pay a cent.
Progressive overload, one step at a time
Progressive overload means asking your body to do a little more over time, so strength builds safely. We usually change one thing at a time, such as the weight, the number of reps or the tempo, and we record it so progress is measured, not guessed.
Strength, cardio and recovery
We mix strength work with aerobic exercise to lift your overall fitness, and we plan rest days too. Regular exercise is good for your mental health as well as your body, so we ask how you’re feeling, not only what you lifted.
Our 6-week program
The 6-Week Lean Body Reset
The 6-Week Lean Body Reset is a $1,399 program built on simple habits.
It includes two training sessions a week with your trainer, the coaching app, nutrition tracking and a set of guides. Your result comes down to how consistently you follow it.
What results can you realistically expect?
Hit 80% of the checklist and you’ll be happy with your result. Fat loss comes from doing the basics week after week, and most people find their energy and training improve too. Tell us your goal early so we can coach you towards it.
What gets in the way?
Work deadlines, school pick-ups and poor sleep are what usually knock people off track. Lock three to four workouts into your calendar before the week starts and they’re much harder to skip.
The weekly checklist
Every client follows the same plan each week:
- Walk 10,000 steps a day.
- Log your food in the app, hit your protein target and stay under your calories.
- Weigh in on Sunday morning and fill in your check-in form.
- Read all the guides in your first week.
- Train at least 4 times a week: your 2 sessions with your trainer plus 2 on your own.

Who suits single sessions?
Single sessions suit people who already eat well, or who want one-on-one technique work around a busy diary. If you want nutrition tracking, guides and weekly check-ins as well, the package is the better fit.
Who suits the 6-week package?
The package suits people who want to lose fat with structure: two sessions a week, a clear program and someone checking in on them. If you only want the odd session, go with single sessions.
How we train
Coached Small Group Strength Training in Kew
Small group strength training in Kew gives you a coach’s eye at a shared cost.
We keep numbers low, so every person is watched and corrected throughout. Each class follows the same structure, and the coach scales every exercise to the person doing it:
- A short warm-up with mobility drills
- Main lifts, with loads set for each person
- A conditioning finisher to close out the workout
One-on-one or small group: which suits you?
Choose one-on-one training if you have an injury, a specific target or you simply want your trainer’s full attention. Choose a small group if you enjoy company and want steady strength training with a coach guiding your loads.
Managing back pain and old injuries
If you have back pain or an old injury, we adjust the exercises, range of motion and load to suit. Where it’s needed, we’ll suggest you check in with your GP or physio, and we’ll follow their advice.
Strength training
Heavier, lower-rep lifts for stronger legs, back and posture.
Small groups
Two to a handful of people, each coached on their own loads.
Conditioning
Intervals and carries that build stamina without wrecking you.
Mobility
Hips, shoulders and spine that move freely under load.
Where you train
Where You Train: Outdoors, at the Gym or at Home
We train clients in three settings, and you can switch between them as your week changes.
Outdoors near the river
The flat paths through Yarra Bend Park and along the Yarra River are ideal for walking or jogging between sessions. The slopes around Studley Park are great for hill walks that build stamina and leg strength. Coached outdoor sessions follow the local council and Parks Victoria rules for personal trainers.
At the gym
Best for heavier lifting and steady progress, with racks, dumbbells and machines on hand.
Mobile, at your home
We come to your home or garage with the equipment. It’s ideal when time is tight or the school run makes travel hard.
Credentials & safety
Credentials, Safety and Health Promotion
Before you book any trainer, ask to see their qualifications. We hold ourselves to the same checks we suggest you make, so you can compare us with confidence.
What to check before you book
Look for registration or membership with bodies such as Exercise & Sports Science Australia, the National Strength and Conditioning Association or the American College of Sports Medicine. A current Working With Children Check matters if a trainer coaches teenagers or works around families. Good questions to ask any trainer:
- Which qualifications do you hold, and who issued them?
- Are your first aid and CPR current?
- Do you hold current insurance?
- How do you adjust a program for pain or injury?
Training for long-term health
We treat training as one part of your long-term wellbeing. That means habits you can keep, such as good sleep, proper recovery and sensible progress, rather than quick fixes. If you’re a National Disability Insurance Scheme participant, see our NDIS personal training page and we’ll talk through whether our coaching suits your goals.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How much should you spend on a personal trainer?
Spend what suits your goal, your budget and your week. Sessions with us are $100 for 45 minutes, so three sessions cost $300. Start with a number of sessions you can keep up, then adjust once you see how you’re progressing.
How much does a personal trainer charge on average?
We charge $100 per 45-minute session, and rates vary between trainers and formats. When you compare trainers, look at session length, coaching style and what each session includes, not just the price.
Is $400 a month a lot for a personal trainer?
Not necessarily. $400 covers four sessions at $100, or one a week. Whether that’s good value depends on how often you want coaching and what you’re working towards. Turning up consistently matters more than the monthly total.
What should I bring to my first session?
Bring water, a towel, comfortable shoes and activewear. It also helps to tell us your main goal, any past or current injuries (and any advice from your GP or physio) and which days suit you.
Do I need a gym membership to train with a personal trainer in Kew?
No. You can train at home, outdoors or at one of our gyms. When we come to you, we bring the equipment.
Can I book a female personal trainer in Kew?
Yes. Mention it when you enquire and we’ll match you with a female trainer such as Britt or Michaela.
